The Villager Rescue cape (more commonly known as the Minecraft Experience cape) was the first in nearly 8 years to be distributed at a physical event, with the previous one being handed out at Minecon 2016. To obtain the cape, attendees of the Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue event must complete the experience, after which they receive the code by email or on a printed card.
Since the first event, which took place in Texas on October 18th, 2024, additional iterations have been hosted in over 9 countries, with further events being planned for Austria and China.
Today, it is considered by many as the entry-level cape to make your in-game player truly stand out, as it is owned by much fewer people than most modern capes, which are readily obtained by participating in online promotions.
